A meat packing plant south of Hastings that has been idle for nearly nine months will be reopening soon under new ownership.
Hastings Acquisitions LLC purchased Premium Protein Products LLC’s former Hastings plant Monday in a bankruptcy auction in Omaha. Premium Protein also has a plant in Lincoln, which Hastings Acquisitions has an option to purchase, as well.
Dee Haussler, Hastings Economic Development Corp. executive director, said the company has 14 days to acquire the Lincoln facility and 75 days to finalize the deal. He said about 150 new jobs will be created when the Hastings facility reopens.
