CCC to campaign for higher tax rate

Come Nov. 4, voters in Central Community College’s 25-county coverage area will be asked to cast their votes on this question:
“Shall CCC be allowed to levy a property tax not to exceed $.03 per one hundred (dollars) of taxable valuation in excess of the limits prescribed by law for five fiscal year periods, ending June 2014, for the purpose of building construction and remodeling?”
The proposed 3-cent property tax rate will be in addition to a 1-cent tax rate CCC has been taking for years, said LaVern Franzen, past president of CCC. Franzen and former CCC Foundation executive director Jack Crowley are coordinating a campaign to pass this tax.
