HC's Fritz places third in shot put at nationals

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — Hastings College senior Scott Fritz earned his first All-America finish, placing third in the shot put at the NAIA national indoor track and field meet Saturday with a toss of 55 feet, 7 inches. The third-place finish for Fritz came after a disappointing day Friday in which Fritz failed to reach the finals in the weight throw, an event the Broncos were trying to win their third straight national title. Fritz joined fellow thrower Cody Weber in earning All-America status for the Broncos. Weber placed sixth in the weight throw Friday.
